Anarchy!

I know plenty of people who seem to think that anarchy would be the greatest government state ever, because, like, the government is too powerful and corrupt.

Well guess what. Anarchy is worse.

An anarchistic state cannot support itself, instead it creates a gaping hole in a very important establishment in the human psyche. We are, by nature, pack animals, so when we remove any form of leadership from our society, instead of holding hands around the campfire, people and groups fight for the now vacant position of power.

The reality is that government is the only thing preventing mob rule right now. Government as envisioned by the founding fathers is the most simple, yet powerful form of government we can have without our rights being screwed by the populace. Anyone who says that they believe in anarchy, and that they think our government sucks do not look at the whole picture.

Anarchy supports a large amount of self interest. Now right now I just got some Communist upset, probably saying that not all anarchist states have to be in support of self interest, but I'm being realistic. In anarchy, the altruistic people of the world would be trod upon by the more powerful. A person who is more willing to attack, steal, and bully, will be able to make it farther than someone who is kind and generous. Without a proper government, laws don't exist, and the truly evil people never get punished. This, in fact, would make the anarchist state evolve (I can use this word freely because I know Christians don't support anarchy) into a for of totalitarianism. Viola, anarchy fails.

Leaving it up to the society to uphold socially accepted actions is also severely flawed. What happens when the man who has no friends is robbed or attacked. The people don't notice and don't really care. Totally fair.

Let's use a totally real example of anarchy. The Hippies.

There was no law or system within their society. They were hedonists to a sickening degree. They did good things for society, but we cannot ignore their actions. They were truly anarchists of a great caliber. They refused to follow the laws of society, and they used drugs rampantly, and were extremely sexually liberal. Their society eventually collapsed itself as it became overly chaotic, and they went from peaceful, to destructive.

I'll conclude on that and let you think about it for yourself. Just keep in mind, human nature doesn't allow for anarchism. We need leaders. That is why anarchy fails.
